The Pleasant Prairie Police Department, in collaboration with the Kenosha Area Noon Optimist Club and Southeastern Lakes Scholastic Mountain Biking (SLSMTB), hosted the annual Bicycle Rodeo event on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Pleasant Prairie Village Hall, 9915 39th Avenue.
Approximately 100 children participated in this year's event, which aimed to educate them about bike safety through simulated real-life situations. The event was entirely free for all participants. Highlights of the event included bike agility courses, safety demonstrations, raffle prizes, helmet and t-shirt giveaways, bike inspections, helmet fitting, a certificate of completion, and the distribution of safety materials for children and adults. Additionally, Visit Pleasant Prairie provided personalized children's bike licenses.
Pleasant Prairie Police Chief David Smetana expressed gratitude to the event sponsors and partners, including Dick's Sporting Goods, EMCO Chemical Distributors, Froedtert South, Kenosha Police, Kwik Trip, Pepsico, Summer Moon Coffee, The Lettering Machine, Visit Kenosha, Visit Pleasant Prairie, and Volkswagen Group of America. Their generous support ensured the success of the community event and helped raise awareness of bicycle safety in the area.
