Operator (Bartender) License

Municipal issued Licenses Wis. Stats. §§125.17 and 125.175
A municipal issued operators' (bartender) license is valid only in the municipality where issued, but it may be used at any premises within that municipality.  Any person applying for an operators' license will need to provide a certificate of completion of a beverage server training course (state approved training courses) within the last two years or a copy of retail license, managers' or operators' license that the applicant has held anywhere in the State of Wisconsin within the last two years.  Operators' license fee is $65.00 for a two-year license and shall expire on June 30 of the second year of the licensing term.  Application will be forwarded to the Pleasant Prairie Police Department for a background check.  After a recommendation to either approve or deny, the application will be processed. Operators’ (Bartender) License Application

State issued Permits 
A Division of Alcohol Beverages (DAB) issued operators' permits will be available after January 1, 2025.  A state-issued operators' permit will be valid in any Wisconsin municipality and may be used at any licensed/permitted premises within Wisconsin. A statewide operators' license may be used on a permitted vessel (boat).  An application for an operators' permit must be made to DAB using an online application system. Qualifications Wis. Stats. §125.04(5)
Applicants for operators' licenses and permits must meet the following qualifications:  (1) The applicant must be at least 18 years of age when the license is issued. The applicant is not required to be a Wisconsin resident.  (2) Subject to Wisconsin's Fair Employment Law, Ch. 111, Wis. Stats., the applicant must not have been convicted of a felony or be a habitual law offender. Wisconsin's Fair Employment Law prohibits the denial of a license based on a pending arrest or conviction record unless the record substantially relates to the licensing activity.  (3) The applicant must have successfully completed an approved responsible beverage server training course.  Applicants are not required to complete the training course if they are renewing an existing operator's license, have completed the training course within the last two years, or have held a retail license, manager's license, or operator's license anywhere in Wisconsin within the last two years.
