Here are 19 things you need to know about being a new resident in the Village:

  1. Welcome packets of information and Village Calendars with Village service information are available for pick-up at the Village Hall Community Development Department located at 9915 39th Avenue (262/925-6717) for all new residents.

  2. Weekly garbage and Bi-weekly recycling collection services are provided to all Village residents. Contact the Roger Prange Municipal Center at 262/925-6700 to obtain information regarding your collection day and how to order your recycling container. The Village also has options available for the disposal of televisions, computers and miscellaneous electronic items.

  3. Yard waste can be dropped from March 24 and December 1, Monday through Saturday at designated times, weather permitting, at the Residential Recycling Center located at 8000 128th Street. Residents must have a Village Residential Recycling sticker to use the site. Residential Recycling stickers are available at the Roger Prange Municipal Center and the Village Hall. Free compost and wood chips are also offered to the residents at the site. Leaf collection pickup is offered is the spring and fall at no charge to the residents.

  4. Hazardous waste materials can be dropped twice a year at the Residential Recycling Center located at 8000 128th Street. Bulk solid waste item pickup is offered for a fee by calling 262/925-6700.

  5. There are five (5) voter polling places in the Village for election purposes. Contact the Village Clerk to determine your ward and polling place or visit our ward listing and map.

  6. The Village is a part of the Kenosha Unified School District #1 public school system, which includes all areas east of I-94 in the Village, City of Kenosha, and Town of Somers. Link to web site: http://www.kusd.edu/

  7. All dogs must be licensed yearly by March 31st. Dog licenses are available at the Village Hall. Cats do not need to be licensed.

  8. The Village has a full-time, professional Police Department. In an emergency, dial 911. The Police Station is located at the Roger Prange Municipal Center at 8600 Green Bay Road.

  9. The Village has a full-time, professional Fire and Rescue Department that provides emergency medical service at the paramedic level. In an emergency, dial 911. There are two fire stations: Fire Station #1 located at the Village Hall at 9915 39th Avenue and Fire Station at #2 at 8044 88th Avenue.

  10. The Village has full-time Administrative, Engineering-Building Inspection, Finance, Parks and Recreation, Planning and Zoning, Property Assessment, and Public Works Services.

  11. The Village offers the largest municipally-owned family-oriented recreation center in the country which is located at Prairie Springs Park on State Highway 165 and west of County Highway H. The facility is known as the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex. Prairie Springs Park is also the location of the spring-fed, 110-acre Lake Andrea, ball fields, soccer fields, archery stand and walking and rollerblading trails.   12. The Village is the site for the successful, 2,000-acre LakeView Corporate Park and 270-acre PraireWood Corporate Park, which are home to more than 75 businesses and 7,500 employees.

  13. The Village is home to Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets. The shopping center offers over 90 outlet stores and is located at the southwest corner of State Highway 165 and Interstate Highway 94.

  14. The southeastern section of the Village is the site of the finest quality natural and scientific prairie sites in the upper Midwest – referred to as the Chiwaukee Prairie.

  15. During the summer months, the Village is the host community to the Iron Girl Triathlon and the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon.

  16. The Pleasant Prairie Post Office, which provides full time postal related services, is located at 4225 101st Street.

  17. The Village publishes a monthly informational newsletter, "the Village". The newsletter is available on-line, is mailed to all Village residents and businesses and is available at the Village Hall.

  18. For general information, the Village Hall office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  19. The Village has one of the lowest taxing rate per capita of all of the State of Wisconsin communities with populations ranging in size from 15,000 to 30,000.
