Cost Recovery

Cost Recovery

The Village charges for certain services provided by the Fire &Rescue Department in an effort to recoup some of the costs of providing service. Some of these charges are handled through a third-party provider. The information below will help assist you in answering your questions regarding a bill you may have received.

Ambulance Services
The Village charges for ambulance service and transport to a hospital. The Village will also charge for service when certain skills, medications or procedures are completed, but the person is not transported. A typical example of this is a diabetic incident where the person is unconscious due to a low blood sugar condition and is given Dextrose (sugar) and the condition is reversed and the person declines transport.

The Village utilizes Andres Medical Billing (AMB) to process ambulance service charges for the department. AMB is a HIPPAA compliant organization and accesses the ambulance incidents directly from the medical records systems. The entire process is electronic. All questions regarding billing and charges should be directed to AMB.

You may contact AMB at the information provide below. A typical bill from AMB looks like the following:

Vehicle Incidents & Cleanup

Fire Inspection - Re-inspection fees & Invoices
The Fire & Rescue department is required to inspect all public and commercial properties twice annually. These fire prevention inspections are intended to check and prevent fire and life safety related incidents on a property and the related structures. The property owner is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the property is safe and compliant for its occupants. There are several state and national codes that will apply dependent on your properties business. It is the responsibility of the property owner and tenant that these safety codes are in place and followed at all times.

The Fire & Rescue Department usually conducts inspections in the Spring & Fall. There are no inspection fees for the two mandated inspection visits at an occupancy. If during the inspection visit, a violation is found, it must be corrected. If that violation can be corrected during the initial visit, no re-inspection fee will be assessed.
