The Fleet Internal Service Fund purchases, manages, maintains, and repairs; vehicles, equipment, attachments, and tools for Village departments (except for Police and Fire & Rescue) through a pay-peruse system. Maintenance and replacement costs are factored in for each participating Village department. This system allows the Village to avoid borrowing. The fund manages all of the vehicles and equipment used to provide services to Pleasant Prairie residents.
The Fleet Internal Service Fund is a separate internal service fund which vehicles and equipment are purchased. The fund also helps the Village track the cost of maintaining the fleet. A majority of equipment and vehicle maintenance is performed in-house by four full time mechanics.
In 2022, the Fleet Internal Service Fund will grow revenue by increasing charge-out rates to 80% of state rates, generating an estimated $145,357 from general government departments and enterprise funds. Additionally, vehicles replaced by leased vehicles will be sold at public auction and generate an estimated $693,250. Contractual service expenses will expand to cover the cost of leasing vehicles.
