The Fleet Internal Service Fund purchases, manages, maintains, and repairs; vehicles, equipment, attachments, and tools for Village departments (except for Police and Fire & Rescue) through a pay-per-use system. Maintenance and replacement costs are factored in for each participating Village department. This system allows the Village to avoid borrowing. The fund manages all of the vehicles and equipment used to provide services to Pleasant Prairie residents.
The Fleet Internal Service Fund has accrued a replacement fund to purchase vehicle replacements. The fund also helps the Village track the cost of maintaining the fleet. A majority of equipment and vehicle maintenance is performed in-house by four full-time mechanics.
During 2021, the Fleet Internal Service Fund plans to replace a Sanitation Truck and Bobcat Toolcat; along with building a plow truck from a used cab and chassis, and adding new mowers, baseball field equipment totaling $575,000 in equipment.
