Effective immediately and until further notice, all burning is banned within the Village of Pleasant Prairie boundaries. Dry conditions, low humidity and winds have already contributed to several fires both structure and brush related in the region.

All burn permits are suspended. Burning allowed in fire pits by ordinance is also suspended as part of this ban to protect structures due to the above mentioned conditions.

The use of gas and charcoal cooking grills is NOT part of this ban notice. Extreme care should be taken when using charcoal cooking grills to ensure that coals are out and that grills remained covered. Exercise special care when operating charcoal grills which may include having a garden hose nearby.

At such time when weather conditions change to afford a safer burning condition, the ban will be re-evaluated and likely lifted.
