The Village of Pleasant Prairie is now accepting scholarship applications for the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex before and after school care program, specifically designed to assist individuals facing financial hardship. This initiative is made possible through the generous corporate sponsorship from HARIBO of America, awarded to RecPlex in 2020, which allocates funds to support families in need.
"Providing quality childcare services to families in the community is a priority at RecPlex," stated Mallory Freitag, RecPlex Youth Services Manager. "This scholarship program seeks to eliminate financial barriers, ensuring that children have access to quality before and after school care, regardless of financial constraints."
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be residents of Kenosha County and provide written documentation demonstrating financial hardship. Eligible children must be four years or older and attend one of the following elementary schools: Whittier, Jeffery, Pleasant Prairie, Nash, or Prairie Lane. The before and after school care takes place at Pleasant Prairie RecPlex, 9900 Terwall Terrace, with transportation available to and from the listed elementary schools and the RecPlex facility. Care hours are 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Currently, a limited number of scholarships are available. Applications submitted in July and August 2024 will be considered. Interested individuals can apply for the scholarship at
RecPlexOnline.com/Forms under the scholarship applications section. Applicants must complete all necessary fields in the online application and submit the form for consideration. RecPlex staff will review the information upon receipt of an application and follow up on any required documentation. Processing applications may take two to three weeks, and scholarships will continue to be awarded as funds allow.
