On Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 6:01 p.m., the Pleasant Prairie Police and Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue Departments responded to the 8200 block of State Trunk Highway 50 (STH 50) for a single motor vehicle crash.
The first responding officers located a passenger vehicle north of STH 50. Officers determined the vehicle had one occupant, a 49-year-old female driver. The car sustained significant damage in the crash, and Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue transported the female driver to a local hospital. The driver was later pronounced deceased.
The initial investigation indicates the vehicle was operating westbound on STH 50 through a section of road under construction. Initial reports suggest the driver lost control of the car, drove through construction barriers, and struck the rear of a parked construction compaction roller. The vehicle then proceeded down a steep embankment and came to a rest along the frontage road. When the incident occurred, the construction zone did not contain any construction employees, and the construction compaction roller was unoccupied.
The Pleasant Prairie Police Department investigation is ongoing, assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol Traffic Reconstruction Unit. The name of the decedent is being withheld, pending proper notification.
