Come one, come all and be inspired as you visit with the Makers at the 2017 Pleasant Prairie Mini Maker Faire. Maker Faire is a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness. The Maker Movement encourages making of all kinds, which by nature is "hands-on". This is what you will experience when you visit Maker Faire on Saturday, November 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the RecPlex Fieldhouse located at 9900 Terwall Terrace in Pleasant Prairie. Admission to the event is free, but you are strongly encouraged to register in advance at pleasantprairie.makerfaire.com to avoid long lines when you arrive.
There are a number of Makers that are returning to the Faire, they include: CraftedKnots, Amateur Telescope Making, Village Spinners, Lost in Space robot replica B9, Inkies, LakeView Makers, CrackPots Studio, Gateway: virtual welding & fab lab, Kenosha Amateur Radio Emergency Communications, LakeView Radio Club, Doodlelloons, and Milwaukee Maker Space. There are also many new Makers that will be joining us this year, including: Medieval Mapmaker, Mystic Gypsy Crafts, E-Blox, Dugan Would Work LLC, Blacksmith - Kenosha Public Library, Make a Quilt, Internet of Things & Embedded Systems, Ogre's Den Chainmaille, Papermaking, The Basket Man, Rogue Saint Clothing Co., Little Puppet Co., LakeView Environmental Club, Gateway: Robotics, Gateway: Augmented Reality Sandbox and Virtual Reality Video. There will be workshops where you can make rustic Christmas jars and kindness rocks. Culver's, Pedro's Mexican Food, and the RecPlex grill will be providing food options throughout the day. Please note that our list of Makers and vendors may change as the event draws near.
Local mascots will also make an appearance in the morning and there will be a Cardboard Boat Regatta beginning at Noon in the Aqua Arena. Come cheer on your favorite crew as they race boats built out of cardboard, duct tape and glue.
Maker Faire would not be possible without the support of many community volunteers and sponsors. This year's sponsors include: Make: makezine.com, the Kenosha Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Leeward Business Advisors, Gateway Technical College, Educators Credit Union, Kenosha News, K-LOG, Elite Apparel, Fast Signs and the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce.
