On January 25, 2017 at 12:44 p.m., Pleasant Prairie Police responded to a call in the 5100 block of 86th Street. The caller indicated that three male individuals came to his front door claiming to be construction workers. The three men advised the home owner that there was a problem with the drinking water and that they needed to check the water supply lines in the basement.
While one suspect followed the home owner to the basement, a second suspect distracted a second home owner on the first floor. The second homeowner on the first floor then observed the two suspects on the first floor leaving the home with a home safe.
The suspects are described as male Hispanics wearing work type clothing. They were seen leaving the area in a green van, possibly a Chrysler. The vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on Cooper Road away from the area.
Pleasant Prairie Police caution residents that legitimate utility workers will provide photo identification. If the identification of the worker is in doubt, residents should contact the police. Residents living near the 5100 block of 86th Street are encouraged to check their home security camera systems for video footage that may assist in this investigation.
