The Village has several unique natural resources within it's boundaries including; the Des Plains and Lake Michigan watersheds, the Chiwaukee Prairie with an abundance of wildlife and vegetative habitat, and numerous historic archaeological sites. Preserving these natural resources is one of the reasons the Village places such an emphasis on environmental initiatives and conservation.
The Village works to educate residents about the importance of recycling and has established a Residential Recycling Center to make it easier for you to dispose of waste in an environmentally friendly manner. If you are wondering when various collections will occur in the Village you can find them in your Calendar and Resource Directory, or you can click a link to the left for full details.
Environmentally friendly practices are not only important for the long-term sustainability of the natural resources in the Village, but are also fiscally responsible as we reduce the waste that is put into landfills. Practicing ways to reduce water consumption and keep our waterways clean are also encouraged.
