Starting August 26, the Pleasant Prairie Parks Department will begin removing the existing playground structures near the Veterans Memorial and Ball Field Pavilion at the south end of Prairie Springs Park. This marks the first phase of a project to replace the aging equipment, which has been in service for approximately 30 years and has reached the end of its useful lifespan.
Earlier this year, the Village Board approved replacing the playground equipment based on a recommendation from the Village Park Commission. The new playground will feature a poured-in-place rubber surface and interactive equipment to support inclusive play for children of all ages and abilities.
Parks Director Brock Williamson emphasized the project’s significance, explaining, “The Pleasant Prairie Parks Department is committed to enhancing the Village’s park system by providing safe and accessible recreational spaces for everyone. We are excited to see the transformation of this playground and look forward to families enjoying the new facilities.”
The replacement process is expected to take approximately three weeks, with the timeline subject to weather conditions. For safety, Village staff requests that residents and guests avoid the play area while construction is ongoing. Once the new playground is completed, the community will be invited to visit the playground and enjoy the enhanced play experience designed for all abilities.
