The Pleasant Prairie Police Department announces the following promotions as part of an agency restructure. Lieutenant Paul Marik and Lieutenant Barry Ollila are advance to the rank of Captain, effective May 3, 2021.
Captain Marik has served with the Pleasant Prairie Police Department since 1997 and most recently led the Detective Bureau within the Police Department. Captain Marik will assume control of the agency's Patrol Bureau and attend the FBI National Academy for law enforcement professionals in 2023.
Captain Ollila joined the Pleasant Prairie Police Department in 2005 and most recently commanded the Third Shift Patrol as a Lieutenant. In the new position, Captain Ollila will oversee the Operation Bureau. Captain Ollila is a recent graduate of the Wisconsin Certified Public Manager Training and the Wisconsin Leadership in Police Organizations.
“The two promotions initiate a reorganization in the Pleasant Prairie Police Department that will develop two collaborative bureaus," said David Smetana, Police Chief. “The agency will focus on patrol and operations to create greater efficiencies that help fulfill our commitment to providing professional, competent, and compassionate services to the community."
