On Thursday, July 26, at 5:56 a.m., Pleasant Prairie Police and Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of 80th Avenue and 109th Street. Upon arrival to the scene officers observed that an operator of one of the vehicles had sustained serious injuries in the crash. The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries, both injured parties were transported to the Froedtert South Medical Campus.
A preliminary investigation of the scene revealed that the accident involved two vehicles with the operator of each vehicle being the lone occupant of the respective cars. Officers noted one of the vehicles turned west from the north bound 80th Avenue traffic lane onto 109th Street and failed to yield the right of way and was struck by a vehicle traveling south bound on 80th Avenue.
The 37 year old male, operator of the west bound vehicle was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Alvaro Plata-Jaimes of Racine. The 27 year old Kenosha man from the southbound vehicle was treated for his minor injuries.
